Five Heart Corrupters

Effects of the Five Heart Corrupters Written by Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah, The Five Heart Corrupters are

  • o Excessive socializing,

  • o Wishful thinking,

  • o Attachment to others besides Allaah,

  • o Eating to one’s fill,

  • o Sleep.
These five factors are the greatest corrupters of the heart. Know that the heart is on a journey to Allaah, Most Great and Glorious, and to the world of the Hereafter, and [that it is able to] discover the path of truth as well as the faults of the soul and of deeds. Its path is traversed with its light, life, strength, health, determination (‘azm), the soundness of its hearingand sight, as well as the absence of distractions and impediments from it. These five (corrupters) extinguish its light, distort its vision, muffle its hearing, if they do not deafen it, dumfound it, and weaken its powers/strengths altogether. They weaken its health, slacken its drive, halt its decisions, and reverse it (sending it backwards). And if one does not sense it, his heart is dead – as wounding a corpse does not inflict pain. They are impediments that prevent it from achieving its perfection, and prevent it from arriving to what it was created for, and making its pleasure and happiness ibtihaah and its enjoyment in arriving to it.

  • The First Corrupter: Frequent Socializing
The effect of frequent socializing is that it fills the heart with the smoke of anfaas of humans until it becomes black, [3] causing it to be scattered, torn apart, worried, upset, and weak. It causes it to carry what it is unable to from mu’nat evil companions and waste what is beneficial for it, by becoming too preoccupied with evil companions and their matters to attend to what is beneficial. (The heart instead is busy with) scattered thoughts in the valleys of their requests and wishes. So what remains of it for Allaah and the life to come? This socializing based on love in this world, the fulfillment of desires from others, will change into enmity when the realities become manifest, and some of those who socialized will bite their hands in regret as the Almighty said: “On the Day when the sinner will bite his hands saying: If only I had taken a way to the Messenger. Woe to me, if only I hadn’t taken so-and-so as a close friend. He misguided me from the Remembrance after it came to me.’ And Satan is forever a deserter of humans in their time of need.” (Soorah al-Furqaan, 25: 27-9) He also said: “Close friends on that Day will be foes of each other except the God-fearing.” (Soorah az-Zukhruf, 43: 67) And He said: “Indeed what you have taken besides Allaah is only idols. Love between you is only in this world, but on the Day of Resurrection you will disown each other and curse each other and your abode will be the fire and you will have no helpers.” (Soorah al-‘Ankaboot, 29: 25) The useful defining principle in the matter of socializing is that one should mix with people in [acts of] goodness like Jumu‘ah, the ‘Eeds, Hajj, learning knowledge, Jihaad, giving advice; and avoid them in [acts of] evil, as well as unnecessary permissible things. If necessity requires mixing with them in evil and avoiding them is not possible, then beware, beware of agreeing with them. And be patient with their harm, for they must harm him if he does not have power or a helper. However, it is harm followed by honor and love for him, respect and praise for him from them, the believers, and from the Lord of the worlds.

  • The Second Corrupter: Riding the Sea of Wishes
The one who has lofty/high conviction himmah his hopes pivot around knowledge and faith and deeds which will bring him closer to his Lord, and yudeenuhu min jiwaarih. These wishes are faith, light and wisdom, while the wishes of those are deception and delusion. The Prophet (r) praised the one who wishes for good, and made his reward in some things similar to that of the one who actually does it, like the one who says: If I had money I would do as so-and-so does who fears his Lord regarding his wealth, strengthening family ties with it, and extracts from it what is required. He said: “Regarding reward, they are equal.”

  • The Third Corrupter: Attachment to Other Than Allah
This is the absolute worst of the corrupters. There is none more harmful than attachment to other than Allaah, nor more able to cut the heart off from Allaah, and block it from what is beneficial to it and what will bring it true happiness. If a heart becomes attached to other than Allaah, Allaah makes him dependent on what he is attached to and he will be betrayed by it and he will not achieve what he was seeking from Allaah as long as he is attached to other than Allaah and turning to others besides Him. Thus, he will not obtain what he sought from Allaah nor will what he was attached to besides Allaah bring it for him “And they have taken gods besides Allaah that they might give them honor, power and glory. No. But they will deny their worship of them and become opponents to them.” (Soorah Maryam, 19: 81-2) “Do not set up with Allaah any other god or you will sit down reproved and forsaken.” (Soorah al-Israa, 17: 22) “Reproved” without anyone to praise you, “forsaken” without anyone to help you. As some people may be forced while being praised, like one is forced by falsehood, and he could be forsaken while being helped [by Allaah], like one forced and falsehood has gained the upper hand over him, and he could be praised and supported like one becomes established and gains dominion by way of the truth. The idolater attached to other than Allaah, his is the vilest category, neither praised nor supported.

  • The Fourth Corrupter: Food
The corrupter of the heart is of two types: One of them is that which corrupts it by itself like the forbidden which are two types: Forbidden relative to Allaah like carcasses, blood, pork, wild animals that kill with the canine tooth [6]and birds that kill with claws. Forbidden relative to Allaah’s slaves, like stolen, maghsoob, kidnapped, and what is taken without the permission of the owner either by force or by shame and blame. The second is what corrupts as a result of its quantity and its exceeding limits, like wasting permissible things, excessive filling of the stomach, for it makes acts of obedience burdensome and it preoccupies the heart with muzaawalat mu’nat al-batnah chasing after belly desires and trying for it until it captures it. “No human fills a container worse than his stomach. Two small portions of food to straighten his backbone are sufficient. If he must [eat more], then let it be a third for food, a third for drink and a third for breathing.”

  • The Fifth Corrupter: Excessive Sleep
It deadens the heart, makes the body heavy, wastes time, and gives birth to a lot of negligence and laziness. Some [types] of sleep are extremely disliked, and some are harmful to the body. The best form of sleep is what takes place when there exists a strong need for it. Sleep at the beginning of the night is more praiseworthy and beneficial than at the end of the night, and sleep in the middle of the day is better than at its beginning and end . In general, the most balanced/moderate (a‘dal) and beneficial form of sleep, is sleep during the first portion of the night and the last sixth of the night. According to medical practitioners, the length of the most balanced form of sleep should be eight hours. In their view, more [sleep] than that or less than that will cause deviation in one’s natural disposition according to it bihasabihi.

Defining Taqawa

Defination of Taqawa for Quran and Ahadith of Prophet (PBUH)

Taqwa is an Arabic word which is explained as a shield against wrongdoing and further expounded as to be “conscious of Allah” or to have “fear of Allah” or to be “cautiously aware of Allah”.
This consciousness and fear of Allah is understood as a protection and a shield against wrongdoing. The abstention of evil through this fear, consciousness and establishing a cautious awareness of Allah, ultimately develops one’s love of Him.

The only basis of superiority and excellence that there is, or can be, between man and man is that of moral excellence. As regards birth, all men arc equal, for their Creator is One, their substance of creation is one, and their way of creation is one, and they are descended from the same parents. Moreover, a person’s is born in a particular country, nation, or clan is just accidental. Therefore, there is no rational ground on account of which one person may be regarded as superior to the other. The real thing that makes one person superior to others is that one should be more God-conscious, a greater avoider of evils, and a follower of the way of piety and righteousness. Such a man. Whether he belongs to any race, any nation and any country, is valuable and worthy on account of his personal merit. And the one who is reverse of him in character is in any case an inferior person whether he is black or white, born in the east or the west. These same truths that have been stated in this beef verse of the Qur'an, have been explained in greater detail by the Holy Prophet in his addresses and traditions. In the speech that he made on the conquest of Makkah, after going round the Ka'bah, he said: 'Thank God Who has removed from you the blemish of ignorance and its arrogance. O people, men are divided into classes: the pious and righteous, who arc honorable in the sight of Allah, and the sinful and vicious, who arc contemptible in the sight of Allah, whereas all men are the children of Adam and Adam had been created by Allah from clay." (Baihaqi, Tirmidhi).

On the occasion of the Farewell Pilgrimage, in the midst of the Tashriq days, he addressed the people, and said: 'O people, be aware: your God is One. No Arab has any superiority over a non-Arab, and no non-Arab any superiority over an Arab, and no white one has any superiority over a black one, and no black one any superiority over a white one, except on the basis of taqva (piety). The most honorable among you in the sight, of Allah is he who is the most pious and righteous of you. Say if I have conveyed the Message to you?" And the great congregation of the people responded, saying: Yes, you have, O Messenger of Allah." Thereupon the Holy Prophet said: "Then Iet the one who is present convey it to those who are absent," ( Baihaqi) In a Hadith he has said: "You are all the children of Adam, and Adam was created from the dust. Let the people give'up boasting of their ancestors, otherwise they will stand more degraded than a mean insect in the sight of Allah." ( Bazzar) In another Hadith the Holy Prophet said: "Allah will not enquire about your lineage on the Day of Resurrection. The most honourable in the sight of Allah is he who is most pious. "(Ibn Jarir) In still another Hadith he said: "Allah does not see your outward appearances and your possessions, but He sees your hearts and your deeds." (Muslim, lbn Majah). These teachings have not remained confined to words only but Islam has practically established a universal brotherhood of the believers on the basis, which does not allow any distinction on account of color, race, language, country and nationality which is free from every concept of high and low, clean and unclean, mean and respectable, which admits all human beings with equal rights, whether they belong to any race and nation, any land or region.
“It is not taqwa that you turn your faces toward East or West, but it is taqwa to believe in Allah and the Last Day, and the Angels, and the Book and the Messengers, to spend of your substance out of love for Him, for your kin, for orphans, for the needy, for the wayfarer, for those who ask, and for the ransom of slaves; to be steadfast in prayer and practice regular charity; to fulfill the contracts you have made; to be firm and patient, in pain and adversity. Those are the truthful and those are the muttaqun.” [Qur’an 2:177]
Taqwa in Ahadith
The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said, “The most common thing which leads people to Paradise is taqwa of Allah and good conduct, and the most common thing which leads people to the Hell Fire is the mouth and the private parts.” [Tirmidhi]
Tafseer ibn Kathir mentions that Atiyah As-Sa’di said the Propeht (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said, “The servant will not acquire the status of those with taqwa until he abandons what is harmless out of fear of falling into that which is harmful.” [Ibn Majah, Tirmizi]
"O ye who believe! Have taqwa of Allah and let every soul look to what provision he has sent forth for the tomorrow." [Al-Hashar, 59:18].

Taqwa (piousness) means, to fear, to refrain and to defend oneself from sins on account of fear of Allah. Muttaqi (pious) is a religious person who lives paying attention to taqwa. The first thought about taqwa is to refrain from harams (forbidden things). Refraining from Makrooh acts (abominable acts) comes after that. Makrooh means a disgraceful and abominable act, talk or behavior. Giving them up is also of taqwa. After that, we confront doubtful things. They have a relationship with harams like as makrooh acts. The suitable behavior in the name of taqwa, when confronting a doubtful, undefined matter, is to think its probability of being haram and to give it up. Then, Mubah (permissible) and Halâl (Lawful) acts and behaviors come. Enjoying them sufficiently and avoiding waste is also of taqwa.Allah’s Messenger (Peace and Blessings be Upon Him), in one of his Hadiths says:” Lawful things are defined, so are unlawful things. However, there are some suspicious things between these two. When a shepherd puts his sheep out to pasture near a forest, there is a possibility that sheep could enter into that forest at any time; similarly, the one who does not refrain from doubtful things could go into harams. “

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

When the Earth is shaken to her (utmost) convulsion, (1) And the Earth throws up her burdens (from within), (2) And man cries (distressed): `What is the matter with her?' (3) On that Day will she declare her tidings: (4) For that thy Lord will have given it inspiration. (5) On that Day will men proceed in companies sorted out, to be shown the Deeds that they (had done). (6) Then shall anyone who has done an atom's weight of good, see it! (7) And anyone who has done an atom's weight of evil, shall see it. (8)

First Person: Rich Japan's stunning descent into misery

Unfamiliar setting

Unfamiliar setting
Bodies are strewn among the knotted skeletons of entire towns.
Military helicopters clatter overhead.
Survivors who lost everything huddle under blankets in schools-turned-shelters as foreign governments dispatch aid and urge their citizens to flee.
After years spent reporting from desperate and war-torn corners of the world, the scenes I've witnessed here are unsettlingly familiar.
It's the setting that's not.

Cascading disasters
Here, in one of the richest and most advanced nations on earth, I've found one of the most challenging assignments of my career.
Japan's cascading disasters were spawned by one of the planet's strongest quakes in a century.
Next came a tsunami that killed more than 10,000 people and demolished vast swaths of the northeastern coast in minutes.
That triggered a nuclear emergency that has amplified a deepening sense of apocalyptic doom.
The grim sights have been widely compared to the astonishing destruction wrought here during World War II.
But it also reminds me of Lebanon in 2006 - when Israel's Hezbollah-seeking rockets leveled whole villages - or any other conflict zone filled with refugees and military convoys.
Image: In this March 12, 2011 photo provided by the U.S. Navy, an SH-60B helicopter assigned to the Chargers of Helicopter Antisubmarine Squadron (HS) 14 from Naval Air Facility Atsugi flies over the city of Sendai, Japan to deliver more than 1,500 pounds of food to survivors.

Quiet airport

Quiet airport
When I stepped off the plane in Tokyo the morning after the quake, Narita International Airport was quiet.
The escalators had been shut off.
Stranded passengers lay on sleeping bags throughout the terminal.
Outside, not a single taxi stood waiting.
We finally found one willing to take us downtown, but only at the departure hall where a dozen others dropping off fleeing travelers had already refused to give us a ride.
Image: Passengers take a nap at the Narita International Airport.

Obstacles at every turn
Later, I headed north toward the tsunami zone with a team of three other AP journalists.
There were obstacles at every turn.
The GPS system could not know that some roads no longer existed or that others had been blocked by mudslides or ripped apart during the mighty tremor.
That first night, it took 14 hours on backroads to cover 180 miles (300 kilometers).
When we finally reached the ruined port of Sendai the next morning, we found survivors wearing surgical masks picking through the wrecked junkyard of their annihilated city.
Image: A survivor of the tsunami that swept through his village of Saito, in northeastern Japan, retells the story to a rescue team that arrived to search the area Monday, March 14, 2011.

Ghost towns
In a tech-savvy society better known for hosting robot marathons, the crisis has produced surreal images, some more apt to appear in a novel about life after a nuclear holocaust: Cut off with no electricity and no phone reception, the hungry and isolated braving long lines outside near-empty grocery stores just to get food; the desperate homeless warming frigid hands in heavy snow above fires fueled by the wooden planks of their own pulverized homes.
In Kesennuma, I saw the hull of a behemoth ship parked inland on a sea of burnt debris beside a wrecked 7-Eleven.
In Shizugawa, a lone Japanese soldier relentlessly swept a small strip of pavement that somehow survived, a futile and slightly bizarre effort considering the entire city surrounding it was reduced to a mashed heap of garbage.
Most of these towns have simply ceased to exist.
In some, far from the ravaged coast, everything is still closed: restaurants, malls, pinball arcades, drugstores - even ATM machines because they cannot function without power.
Image: Residents carrying household belongings they retrieved from their ruined home walk past a stranded ship in Kesennuma in Miyagi Prefecture, Sunday, March 20, 2011.

A constant concern
We have survived mostly on snack food - peanuts and potato chips and canned coffee scavenged from mostly empty street-side vending machines. When we found one small food store open, it's dwindling stocks already plundered, we bought everything left that we could fit in our car - raw sausages, dried squid, bread.
Finding fuel is a constant concern.
Vast lines of cars queue ominously at every gas station - even those that are closed - waiting up to 36 hours to buy limited rations.
We need gas not only to move, but to charge our laptops and satellite transmitting equipment through an inverter that connects to our car's cigarette lighter - which at one overloaded point blew a fuse, threatening to bring our mission to a halt.
Image: A motorist gets out of his car to check the length of a queue for petrol in the city of Iwaki, Japan, Tuesday, March 15, 2011.

Never-ending crisis?
One big problem with Japan's crisis: It doesn't feel like it's over.
Every night, we are woken by aftershocks. These come during the day, too - during interviews, while parked in our car - grim reminders that what started it all can be unleashed again, anytime.
Every day, we hear snippets of news about the possibility of total nuclear meltdown at the Fukishima Dai-ichi plant, more than 150 miles (240 kilometers) from where we have been working. There is talk of helicopter crews testing positive for radiation exposure, of foreign governments urging their nationals to leave.
The experience got even more surreal when AP issued me a pocket-sized 'dosimeter' - a device that looks like a Maglite flashlight and monitors surrounding radiation levels from the safety of one's pocket - and a ration of potassium iodide to protect my thyroid from cancer in the event of a serious nuclear event.
With heavy snow now adding another level of desolation, I sometimes wonder: If it gets any worse, can we get off this island?
Image: Pills of potassium iodide, foreground, are placed after being delivered to a shelter in Miharu town, Fukushima Prefecture, Japan, Sunday, March 20, 2011.

Loss is everywhere
With nowhere else to stay, we spent many nights in makeshift shelters, sleeping alongside displaced families wrapped in blankets on the crowded wooden floors of school basketball courts.
At all of them, large wall-mounted clocks are still frozen at 2:46 pm - give or take a few minutes - the moment when the earthquake changed everything.
It's hard not to be impressed with the immense grace of the people we've encountered along the way.
I've seen no fighting, no shouting, only patience.
We've been offered miso soup and rice balls - by people who have lost everything and have no idea when or how they'll ever go home.
The shelters we've stayed at are so well-organised that one even offered different trash bags for recycling, and there were group calisthenics at dawn.
On the surface, there seems too little emotion, too much stoicism. But loss is everywhere.
Image: A woman, second right, who lost her mother and her three-year-old son reacts after she confirmed their bodies under the rubble of her house in Miyako, northern Japan Monday on March 14, 2011.

Denial or real hope?
At Ishinoseke, a man who has not seen his wife since he spoke to her minutes before the tsunami told me with the utmost certainty that she MUST be alive.
After failing to find her at seven different shelters, he began searching for her inside a city gym-turned-morgue where the bodies of 300 tsunami victims lay under blue tarps, waiting to be identified.
At a shelter in Shizugawa, I watched an elderly man tell a group of survivors that those who'd gone missing had not yet been confirmed dead.
Was it denial or real hope? I couldn't tell.
As he read out the names of dozens who have not been seen since March 11, women listening intently on their knees began weeping in silence.

Taqawa is Submission to Allah

This is first posting in this blog. This blog is dedicated to Taqawa its defination in Modern World. How to strive for it.

Quran :- (49:13) Human beings, We( Allah) created you all from a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes so that you may know one another. Verily the noblest of you in the sight of Allah is the most God-fearing of you. Surely Allah is All-Knowing, All-Aware.

Those are the truthful and those are the muttaqun.” [Qur’an 2:177]
Success

And the Prophet said: (صلى الله عليه وسلم)
"0 you people! Your Lord is One. Your (original) father is one. All of you are offspring’s of Adam, and Adam's origin was dust. The noblest among you is the most God-fearing person. An Arab does not have a right to claim superiority over a non-Arab, nor has a non-Arab a right to claim superiority over an Arab, except through righteous deeds. 0 Lord ! Please witness that I have conveyed (the message). And (you listeners), let those who are now present convey to those who are absent".
The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said, “The most common thing which leads people to Paradise is taqwa of Allah and good conduct, and the most common thing which leads people to the Hell Fire is the mouth and the private parts.” [Tirmidhi]

Allah’s Messenger (Peace and Blessings be Upon Him), in one of his Hadiths says:” Lawful things are defined, so are unlawful things. However, there are some suspicious things between these two. When a shepherd puts his sheep out to pasture near a forest, there is a possibility that sheep could enter into that forest at any time; similarly, the one who does not refrain from doubtful things could go into harams. “

Hadrat Umar ibn Khattab (R.A) once asked Hadrat Ibn Ka’ab (R.A) the definition of taqwa. In reply Hadrat Ibn Ka’ab asked, “Have you ever had to traverse a thorny path?” Hadrat Umar replied in the affirmative and Hadrat Ka’ab continued, “How do you do so?”
Hadrat Umar said that he would carefully walk through after first having collected all loose and flowing clothing in his hands so nothing gets caught in the thorns hence injuring him. Hadrat Ka’ab said, “This is the definition of taqwa, to protect oneself from sin through life’s dangerous journey so that one can successfully complete the journey unscathed by sin.”

Umar ibn Abdul Aziz (ra) once said, "Taqwa is not by fasting the day and not by praying the night. And it's not by mixing between the two of them. But taqwa is leaving what Allah (swt) has made Haram and by doing what Allah (swt) has made Fard. After one has done this, Allah (swt) will provide good things for that person."
Hadrat Hasan Basri said, “Taqwa is the basis of Deen. Desire and greed destroy this basis.”

This Hadith about bankruptcy is dreadful and terrifying:
“Bankrupt from my Ummah is a person that comes with deeds such as prayers, fast and alms in the Doomsday. Nonetheless, he swore at people, slandered, defrauded them, and hurt or chastised some of them. His rewards are divided up among those people whom he harmed. If his deeds do not suffice, then some misdeeds of those people are placed onto him and he is sent to hell.”

India Budget 2011-2012 - 9% for rich, misery for poor

India Budget - The Road To No Where

If we look at the budget, which Mr. Prime Minister says for people. But even after hard work, I could not find anything for Aam Aadmi. The government which came to power saying they will serve Aam Aadmi, there is no Aam Aadmi in the Budget.

The allocation for Agriculture and Rural Sector are minimum. This will not, and can not change India's Aam Aadmi.

Yes this can definitely add to the wealth of wealthy people. 9% growth can be achieved and will be achieved but where is Aam Aadmi in it. The common man is no where.

I thought Pranab Babu will give old thought of common masses some weight but unfortunately the budget looks like it of P Chidambaram, and Montek Singh Ahluwalia has worked on it rather than Pranab Mukharji the Finance Minister.

If we look at it see what people's saying.

No Green Revolution, only the lip service. ( Mr. M S Swaminathan, member of NAC)

If we look at the India's hungry they are getting more hungry.

Super growth didn't help hungry kids

And yes inflation, what it is doing to the misery of poor. Everything is unaffordable.

'Misery index' clearly up: Guessing what this could mean

India need solution rather than patch up work as presently done by government.

Japan Nuclear Disaster & India's Nuclear Agreement

Huge blast at Japan Nuclear Plant

India has signed a nuclear agreement with US and as agreed passed by the IAEA. For this purpose Mr. Prime Minister has betrayed their partner and went ahead for vote in parliament. Poor Left Front never understood it and those who supported this motion do not as well. The so called secular Mr. Mulayam Singh Yadav.

After this Earthquake followed by huge Tsunami. I have few questions for Indias proponents of nuclear treaty.

What are the standards and can Indian Nuclear Plant stand the disaster, specially the newly proposed Jaitapur Power Plant.

What is the cost of energy and cost of managing disaster and cost of post disaster. Country like India which is poor just do not have enough resources to manage disaster.

Bhopal Gas Tragedy is well known example, still after 25 years fight is on and no justice.

Bombay flooding in 26th July 2005.

Gujarat Earth Quake are some examples.

With Koyana Dam which is prone to EarthQuake government should think twice before going for Jaitapur or anyother nuclear plant.

The cost of treaty is very high. If we look at oil prices and its effect on inflation in India. We stop IPI gas pipeline to please the Masters who are willing to sell us disaster at huge cost.

This cost is today, when we are byuing costly oil rather than cheaper gas. We are paying huge for the Nuclear Energy and yes calling for disaster.

I request those who thinks to say no to Nuclear Plant in India.

Rs.80/Kg-Rs.2/KG= ? ..........=Suicide

The Great Indian Puzzle Rs. 80/kg – Rs.2 /Kg=? ……….. = Suicide!!!!!

The onion price has gone from Rs. 80 to Rs 2 a Kg in last 45 days. What a great achievement! Great work my dear Prime Minister!!! Please check your hands!!!
I thinks it has blood……..it has blood of those poor farmers who are asking for fair play. They are asking for life not death.

IIT and IIM are increased, doubled over the years and especially in last ten years. I have just one question how many more agriculture universities and colleges do we have started in last ten years. India’s biggest sector is neglected and neglected too much; the sector which gives employment to 70% of India is no where in development and growth.

We need IIT and IIM ….yes…….I am not disagreeing on it but more importantly we need many more agriculture colleges and universities to educate those who are dying because of lack of knowledge on how to do the job they are doing.

Mr. Dr. Prime Minister ...............( PhD is Capitalist Economy) Yes you have yet to complete a job! As you said you have job to be completed ……….……… …poor are starving. You are making them starve. You have Job to be completed of converting India’s economy run by 12% so rich become richer and poor become poorer. This is what exactly you are doing with your policies.

Onion Rs. 60 to Rs 80 a Kilogram and all vegetables are skyrocketing in the market. The prices of the food items, especially basic food staple has increased almost 50% in last one year and if we look at basket of basic food needs of an average family it has doubled in last two years. Officially inflation stood around 18% YonY at end of December over last year. Global food prices has gone 25% (FAO) food index YonY and pulses has risen 39% YonY. This is the situation, India the biggest producer of pulses and milk has very bad year. Unfortunately PM says because poor people has more disposable income so they are spending more and result is price rise. But with all logic and his credential as economist and as RBI governor I failed to understand, how increase in income of middle class, or poor people will affect prices so much. Are they storing too much? Are they eating too much? They must be spoiling too much!! Unfortunately their income has not gone up that much, and whose income has gone up, the real middle class will spend it on vehicles, cars and tourism, night clubs, most importantly Liquor. India has one of the fasted growth in liquor sell, government should think of increasing taxes on this and associated product which will burden India’s healthcare system in long term. But no one can eat more than his belly, still we are poor country can not spoil food. Even today when I go to any of the home (well to do) I have not seen any one throwing yesterdays food in dustbin. Most of them eat after making it something different product or same by heating. If not, for more than a days old, they will give to maid (she will take it happily and enjoy it, never throw it.). We have more than enough destitute who come asking for food everyday, they too like to take old food. This logic of increase in income is cause of price rise does not hold good. Economist are good in numbers and interpreting it differently as they like, we need to see price parity basis also, and definitely our statistical bureau can give any number, also can prove that income has increase. I am agreeing to income has increased, but one must accept, poverty, and disparity in income has also increase and I can prove it with their numbers only. I am not in business of making numbers fortunately.

This means farmers must be making fortunes by selling onion, potato, milk and other vegetables. Their income must have been increased substantially in last decade. But Data talks differently, last year more than 17000 farmers committed suicide because of financial problems. In 2011 from January 1st till 15th, more than 11 farmers committed suicide in Vidarbha only. (PM has given big package for the development of Vidarbha farmers, which I failed to see on ground when he visited, that was election gimmick played very well………. We should have elections every 2 years instead of 5 years so people may get some thing regularly, one year assembly election and next year parliamentary election.)
Average Productivity of main crops and India’s Ranking in the world.
MSP for last five years
Minimum wages for last five years
Land holding pattern in India
Average income of farmer
Average monthly salary of Class IV employee of Government of India after 6th pay commission.

If we look at data below even though India has one of key player in agriculture its performance as agriculture producer has remain dismal. It is the old Green revolution which made India self sufficient in wheat and white revolution for milk. But disparities in states are wide. Production is bad and productivity is at mercy of mansoon. Unfortunately government’s allocation to the agriculture as percentage share of budget is going down continuously. The projects are still uncompleted after 20 years of executions.

The cost of production has gone up three time, average holding of land is going down and productivity and MSP are not increased so farmers are getting poorer.

This need change of attitude and focus on change of development. 12% growth will bring more deaths and more inflation and more food riots and disparity between rich and poor.
India needs 7% growth which is diversified across the sectors and in the villages.
Government must increase its allocation to agriculture and also in the research.

This is sole reason -------------A change is must!!!

Who is the next............Tunisia.................

Change has arrived “New Political Reality in North African Arab World”

Food Riots in North African Arab World

There are riots in many African Countries recently. Especially the riots have significance looking at the strategic importance of these countries to the west, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, and Egypt. These are the countries who are staunch supporters of the western powers and all of them has key role in crushing Islamist. These are the dictators enjoying powers for long time with the help of their western allies in return for so called war on terror efforts. They remain in powers years after years without much growth and development to the nation.

Now youths are angry and want justice. They are angry because they don’t have work, employment, and growth opportunity. The prices are rocketing high and affording anything is difficult. Under these circumstances they are asking for justice from these corrupt regimes supported by their western allies for their own benefit. There are many dimensions to the crisis and none of them are really in the hands of single country in this Globalised environment”.

The famous columnist of Al Jazeera Television Channel Mr. Marwan Bishara writes “The so-called international community has been traditionally silent about totalitarian practices and abuses within its member states, except in cases where certain Western countries or powers have invoked questions of regime oppression either as a tool of foreign policy or championing the cause of human rights for public consumption.

Arguably, the neoliberal economic opening to Western investments has played no small part in the deterioration of the economic situation in Tunisia and other Arab countries.

So that when those regimes, as in Tunisia, co-operated with their Western counterparts on economic or strategic issues, their abuses of power have been generally ignored.

Politics: Algerian President Bouteflika led his country out of the civil war that broke out when Islamists were denied an election victory; since the 1990s.

Economy: Algeria is a key oil and gas supplier

In 1992 a general election won by an Islamist party was annulled, heralding a bloody civil War. However, poverty remains widespread and unemployment high, particularly among Algeria's youth. Endemic government corruption and poor standards in public services are also chronic sources of popular dissatisfaction.

Major protests broke out in January 2011 over food prices and unemployment, with two people being killed in clashes with security forces. The government responded by ordering cuts to the price of basic foodstuffs.

Algeria has seen three days of unrest over the rising costs of living and unemployment, which government figures show standing at about 10 per cent, but which independent organizations put closer to 25 per cent.

Layachi Ansar, professor of sociology at Qatar University, told Al Jazeera that the cutting of food taxes and duties was "a superficial measure" that doesn't address "the deep crisis" going on in Algeria, connected with the "unequal distribution of wealth - this wealth is spoilt by corruption, by bad governance and lack of accountability of government officials and state civil servants".

'Out of control'

Mohamed Ben Madani, editor of The Maghreb Review, said the situation was "out of control" and that the protests could continue for weeks.

Mohamed Zitout, a former Algerian diplomat, told Al Jazeera: "It is a revolt, and probably a revolution, of an oppressed people who have, for 50 years, been waiting for housing, employment, and a proper and decent life in a very rich country.

"But unfortunately it is ruled by a very rich elite that does not care about what is happening in the country - because they did not give people what they want, even though the government has the means to do so, the people are now revolting."

If we look at the other side of the story why this all is happening. Even though economy is slow, there is enough food for everyone and prices are going UP.

According to World Bank “The world economy is moving from a post-crisis bounce-back phase of the recovery to slower but still solid growth this year and next, with developing countries contributing almost half of global growth, says the World Bank’s latest Global Economic Prospects 2011.
The World Bank estimates that global GDP
[1][1], which expanded by 3.9% in 2010, will slow to 3.3% in 2011, before it reaches 3.6% in 2012. Developing countries are expected to grow 7% in 2010, 6% in 2011 and 6.1% in 2012. They will continue to outstrip growth in high-income countries, which is projected at 2.8% in 2010, 2.4% in 2011 and 2.7% in 2012.

Global Stock Market Performance in 2010

The following are some of the key points from a review of the 2010 performance of equity markets around the world:

Stock markets can rise despite low or poor economic growth. The U.S. market was a perfect example of this scenario. While the U.S. economy continued to struggle last year with high unemployment rates, slowing demand, more bank failures and other negative events, corporate profits rose and equities took off ending the year with double-digit returns for the S&P 500.

It was a very good year 2010 for many markets with amazing returns. India gave a 16% odd returns in 2010. The MSCI Emerging Markets Index (+16.4%) had done enough earlier in the year to outperform the MSCI World Index (+9.6%) by a wide margin for the year as a whole.

FAO food price indices

The FAO Food Price Index in December slightly surpassed its peak of early summer 2008. The indices of sugar and oils and fats increased the most.

o In Asia, domestic prices of rice further strengthened in December and are at record levels in several countries.

o Prices of wheat and wheat flour in importing countries of Asia, Latin America and Africa, remained at high levels.

In December 2010, the FAO Food Price Index averaged 215 points, 1 point above its peak in early summer 2008. The highest increases were recorded for the Sugar and Oils and Fats price indices. The December 2010 index was up 25 percent from December 2009. The Cereal Price Index rose to 238 points, up as much as 39 percent from December 2009.

Why this rise:- If we look at the present global scenario and prices going, there is big gap between what it should be and what it is. When economy is really not growing, poverty is increasing, food supply is enough………still Prices are going up………. The reason is not poor got more money to eat more unfortunately according to George W Bush ex US president when he Said “ India and China eating more”, and according to recent statement of Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, economist himself and beloved US follower “ because people got more disposable income so prices are rising.” Unfortunately this can not happen, when people spent more they spent more on cream and not the basic staple food, in fact basic consumption of staple food goes down. The answer lies in the Commodities market! 24/7 casino’s played across the world to make money and make more people hungry and deprived.

The price of traded food staples such as wheat, corn and rice soared 26 percent from June to November, nearing the peaks reached during the global food crisis of 2008. According to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, 925 million people worldwide suffered from hunger in 2010, an increase of about 150 million since 1995-97. One third of children in the so-called developing world are malnourished.

The new explosion in commodity prices is being fueled by the cheap credit policies of governments and central banks in Europe, Japan and, above all, the United States, where core short-term interest rates remain near zero. The Federal Reserve in November announced that it would purchase $600 billion in US Treasury securities by, in effect, printing dollars. This cheap-dollar policy has the effect of debasing the world’s primary trading and reserve currency, thereby fueling inflationary tendencies around the world and increasing the flow of hot money to emerging economies with faster growth and higher interest rates.

In the US alone, corporations and banks are sitting on some $3 trillion in cash which they refuse to invest in production and hiring. A good portion of the global surfeit of cash is being used to ramp up the prices of commodities from oil, copper, cotton, gold and silver to food staples such as wheat, corn, rice and soybeans.

A major factor in the rise in corn prices is the diversion of a third of US corn production to the more profitable production of ethanol in 2010.

In the United States, which harvested 416 million tonnes of grain in 2009, 119 million tonnes went to ethanol distilleries to produce fuel for cars. That’s enough to feed 350 million people for a year.
The combined effect of these growing demands is stunning: a doubling in the annual growth in world grain consumption from an average of 21 million tonnes per year in 1990-2005 to 41 million tonnes per year in 2005-2010. Most of this huge jump is attributable to the orgy of investment in ethanol distilleries in the United States in 2006-2008

In the past four months, the Silver has risen 51 percent to a series of 30-year highs, before inflation. It closed last week at $29.31 a troy ounce, as compared to $16.822 at the beginning of 2010―a rise of 74 percent. Wall Street Journal writes “Of the general surge in commodity prices, the Journal wrote: “Prices are rising despite over-supply and a lackluster recovery in industrial demand. Many analysts expected those factors would keep a lid on prices in 2010. What they didn't expect was an overwhelming flow of money into the market from investors eager to ride a commodity rally.”

FOOD PRICES AND INFLATION

If all the food in the world were shared out evenly, there would be enough to go around. That has been true for centuries now - if food was scarce, the problem was that it wasn't in the right place.

The poor, urban multitudes in these countries (including China and India) spend up to half of their entire income on food, compared with only about 10 per cent in rich countries.

When food prices soar, these people quickly find that they simply lack the money to go on feeding themselves and their children properly - and food prices now are at an all-time high.

Unfortunately we live in world which does not understand logic and rationales. Only vested interest of Global Powers and Power Brokers and lobbies prevail. No one care how many will die of hunger and poverty.

OH ALLAH FORGIVE

OH Allah Forgive .

Australia Flood Disaster

OH ALLAH MOST BENEFICIENT and MOST MERCIFUL FORGIVE US FOR OUR SIN.

Our Lord! Thou art indeed Full of Kindness, Most Merciful. [59:10]

Our Lord! Condemn us not if we forget or fall into error [2:286]
Our Lord! In Thee do we trust, and to Thee do we turn in repentance: to Thee is (our) Final Goal [60:4]
Our Lord! Make us not a (test and) trial for the Unbelievers, but forgive us, our Lord! for Thou art the Exalted in Might, the Wise. [60:5]
Our Lord! Perfect our Light for us, and grant us Forgiveness: for Thou hast power over all things. [66:8]

"And the Firmament has He raised high, and He has set up the Balance (of Justice), In order that ye may not transgress (due) balance, so establish weight with justice and fall not short in the balance." Quran Surah Rahman: Ayah 7-9:

Allah has created this world in balance and justice but our deeds messes it. These deeds vary from personal life, our social behaviors, and our economic and political activities. If we see at the financial crisis world is in, this is very clear example". Today people wants to transfer the risk, this will never work. What we are in "Financial Crisis" is ultimately result of not sharing the risk but transferring it to other. This is because we transgressed our limits on balance and justice. If we want to change, we need holistic approach to change our lives, then and then only justice and peace can come to the world. If we want to change this world, it must come from within first.

La illaha illa Anta Subhanak, inni kuntu min adh-dhalimeen
There is no God but You; Glory be to You, Truly I have been one of the wrongdoers. [Surah al-Anbiyah, 21: 87

OH ALLAH, You are the Rabbul Aalmin, You are sustainer and most merciful, forgive us, definitely we are transgressor. All the wealth which is below the earth and above it all belongs YOU and we all will come back to you.

O Allah! Forgive me my faults, my ignorance, any excesses in my matters and in that which You have more knowledge of than me. O Allah! Forgive me my sins done in jest, those done mistakenly, those done intentionally and all those shortcomings that are within me.

Our Lord! We have wronged our own souls: If thou forgive us not and bestow not upon us Thy Mercy, we shall certainly be lost. [7:23]

Our Lord! Make us not a trial for those who practise oppression; And deliver us by Thy Mercy from those who reject (Thee) [10:85-86]

Our Lord! Avert from us the Wrath of Hell, for its Wrath is indeed an affliction grievous,- Evil indeed is it as an abode, and as a place to rest in. [25: 65-66]
Allah states, “We seized Pharaoh’s people with years of drought and scarcity of fruits, so that they would hopefully pay heed. (Quran: 7:130) and “We sent down on them floods, locusts, lice, frogs and blood, which are clear and distinct signs, but they proved arrogant and stuck to their evildoings.” (Quran: 7:133).
Quran (7:80-81) describes it: “And Lot/Lut asked his people if they committed an obscenity not perpetrated before them by anyone in all the worlds. Lut told the people of the tribe that they had lust for men instead of women, dubbing them a depraved lot.”
Allah further says:
“We rained down a rain upon them. See the final fate of the evildoers!” (Quran, 7:84) and “We will bring down on the inhabitants of this city a devastating punishment from heaven because of their deviance. We have left a clear sign of them behind for people who use their intellect.” (Quran, 29:34-35)

We use and exploit YOUR resources, minerals, oil, gas and everything which in the earth and on the earth, the forest sea and water. But make poor suffer from hunger and death.

Poverty ON RISE

Quran Maun - 1-7] Have you seen him who belies the rewards and punishments of the Hereafter? He it is who drives away the orphan and does not urge giving away the food of the poor. Then woe to the praying ones, who are careless of their Prayer, who do good to be seen, and withhold small kindnesses (from the people).
And urges not on the feeding of Al-Miskîn (the needy),]

POOR AT RECEIVING END OF DEVELOPMENT

Another characteristic of those who deny the Recompense is that they do not feed the poor and the needy and do not urge one another to help the helpless of the society. Muslims who have means have been commanded to feed the poor and the needy and encourage one another to help them.
Narrating the great virtues of helping the weak members of the society, the Prophet said:
“The one who looks after a widow or a needy person is like a Mujâhid (fighter) who fights for Allah’s Cause, or like him who performs prayers all the night and fasts all the day.” [Narrated by Al-Bukhari]

FOOD RIOTS

And withhold Al-Mâ'ûn (small kindnesses).]
This verse means that those who deny the Recompense do not worship Allah well, nor do they treat His creation well. They do not even lend that which others may benefit from and be helped by, even though the object will remain intact and be returned to them (like an axe, a pot, a bucket and similar items). These people are even stingier when it comes to giving Zakat (obligatory charity) and different types of charity that bring one closer to Allah. [Tafsir Ibn Kathir]
[39:51] They suffered the consequences of their evil works. Similarly, the transgressors among the present generation will suffer the consequences of their evil works; they cannot escape.
[39:52] Do they not realize that GOD is the One who increases the provision for whomever He chooses, and withholds? These are lessons for people who believe.
The first wealth is also very attractive to the nature of mankind, thus every man inclines to have wealth as Allah says, "Fair in the eyes of men is the love of things they covet: women and sons; heaped-up hoards of gold and silver; horses branded (for blood and excellence); and (wealth of) cattle and well-tilled land. Such are the possessions of this world's life; but in nearness of God is the best of the goals (to return to)" (Qur'an 3:14).

FEED POOR _ HELP THEM YOU WILL BE BETTER

WARNING:- DON’T TRANSGRESS THE BOUNDARIES, OPPRESSION, EXPOITATION,INJUSTICE WILL BE PUNISHED HERE AND HEREAFTER. THE POWERFULL WHO ARE USING THE WEALTH BESTOWED ON THEM TO DESTROY THE BALANCE IN THIS WORLD AND LIVES OF THE POOR PEOPLE BY HUNGER AND INJUSTICE WILL BE PUNISHED. THIS MAY ECONOMIC OR ECOLOLOGICAL.

India's Growth - Where is poor going............

India Capitalist Way
India is growing and growing very fast but where is its poor going...........unfortunately I am not able to see. Stock market is zooming, how many indians are investing in it. When world's biggest capitalist is coming to India, at this time the most important question the government must answer .. " Where its commitment lies?".

Unfortunately this goverment may be good for rich, but with all words of development poverty is rising. If India fails to include its poor in growth and development, then it is going to be disastar for the nation.

Unfotunately present government with all its rhetoric for inclusive growth fail to include the poor in this story of development. Life and its affordability becoming more and more difficult for poor.

Healthcare, drinking water and electricity, housing , sanitation all are absent in rural India. Electricity comes occasionaly and yes no water in summer. Malnutrition Childs are highest here.

India's Hungry
Without taking all together, growth can not be servived.

Water Conservation and Agriculture and village industries should be the pririty of the development.

Privatisation ............ or selling of old assets of nation can't solve the real problem.

New paradigm of development is must....... which includes all sections of societies.

God's Own Work@Goldman Sach

This is unending love story of capitalist economy called “Financial Crisis”. How the Wall Street and biggies of Wall Street loves money, and how much they love it. They have given this name “God own work”. They are doing God’s own work by cheating and defrauding. Making richer more rich and poor …………… poorer. This is called God’s Own Work in their words. But unfortunately this is exactly the definition of Capitalism. The whole concept of free money, free economy, without control and restriction and governance is what Capitalist Want.

If we look at whole financial crisis we can very easily say that the core reason is manipulation, and cheating, which they named structuring. Structuring of financial product, derivatives and swaps in such a way which nobody can understand.

Goldman Sach is being investigated for fraud, but the list is very long. The Greek debt by Goldman Sach should also be considered as cheating and their role in collapse of Lehman Brothers must also be investigated.

When I have gone through whole document of evidence and financial crisis I came to the following conclusion.

Financial Crisis

Financial Crisis, world has seen the big names of finance and banking no more exists, they are gone and gone for ever. Because of the financial melt down, more people has gone into poverty and more people finding it difficult to meet the both ends. What is problem and who is responsible for, and what is the alternative and long term solution.

What is problem?

The problem lies in the system where making money from money at any cost is sole objective called as capitalism. The specific reason related to the financial crisis is as below.

Institution and Product

  • Financial Crisis and collapse of financial industry, moral hazard is the core of the causes.
  • Securitization eliminates the incentive for the originator of the loan to be credit sensitive... With securitization, the dealer (almost) does not care as these loans can be laid off through securitization.(called a ‘‘moral’’ hazard). The originating banks replenished their funds, enabling them to issue more loans and generating transaction fees.
  • Credit rating agencies having given investment-grade ratings to MBSs based on risky subprime mortgage loans. However, there are also indications that some involved in rating subprime-related securities knew at the time that the rating process was faulty. ( moral hazard)

· The Bank of International Settlements, which seems to be the only institution that tracks the derivatives market, has recently reported that global outstanding derivatives have reached 1.14 quadrillion dollars: $548 Trillion in listed credit derivatives plus $596 trillion in notional/OTC derivatives. And a look at their massive exposure shows that even a small miscalculation or stumble in the capital markets could be a recipe for unprecedented disaster. The majority of the $1.28 quadrillion in derivatives are “owned” on somewhere near 95 percent margin!

“Reason for Financial Crisis in Short”

o Unethical Practices and Moral Hazard

o Securitization and speculation

o Paper Currency

o Derivatives and Structured Products

If we look at the core of the financial crisis, it all started with unethical practices of lenders/banks to lend the money who can not afford it. These bankers are only interested in getting processing fees and placement fees and making money on it. They bundled these entire low quality loan into securities, and sold to the market. Most importantly rating agencies rated these securities wrongly to get good rating. Then market players sold CDS and Interest rates swaps on them based on these rating. Then speculators played on these securities to generate profits.

When it comes to commodities I can say securitization of commodities market and derivatives played by the speculators are the sole reason for the high prices of commodities across the world. Derivatives are the other reason of collapse. Role of paper currency is another very important issue at the center of financial crisis. These papers currencies which do not have any weight themselves has become most important tool of the speculators, derivatives, currencies and their casino’s has played key role in financial crisis. Securitization and securities market has become the 24 hour casinos for the speculators who play on 95% barrowed money. (Commodities, currencies and derivatives)

Why not Auditors and Credit Rating Agencies?

But a crucial question remains that has not had much exposure: where were the auditors? Unqualified audit reports up to the collapse had concluded that the directors’ reports and accounts reasonably reflected reality.

Role of auditors:

Auditors have contributed to the crisis by accepting directors’ “mark-to-market” valuation of trading assets, when some basic questions would have shown them that those directors (i) hadn’t the remotest clue what was in the mortgage / loan packages they had acquired; (ii) were utterly bemused by the nature of the complex derivatives on which their asset valuation rested; and (iii) knew that there was no market to “mark” to.

Derivatives are central to the demise of Lehman. Its annual accounts mention derivatives contracts with a face value of $738bn and fair value of $36.8bn.

UK forensic accountant Richard Murphy says: "The fundamental question is how accountants got away with changing rules of accountancy, which state they don't have to assess the valuation of assets underlying the assets on a balance sheet. How did they get away with changing the audit rules?"

The Role Played by Credit Rating Agencies

Flaws in rating methodologies were the major reason for underestimating the credit default risks of instruments collateralized by subprime mortgages.

The governance of credit rating agencies did not adequately address issues relating to conflicts of interests and analytical independence.

Rating process needs to be optimized
Looking back at market developments and rating activities during the past few months, it becomes clear that a number of factors have adversely affected the quality of the work done by CRAs:
