How to Get Close to Allah



Taqawa is all about Love to Allah. Taqawa is only way to get close to Allah. These are the points mentioned by Ibn Qayyim on how to get close to Allah.
Ibn Qayyim said that there are ten things that bring about the love of Allah:





  • Recitation of the Qur'an with reflection and with understanding of its meanings.
  • Seeking closeness to Allah by performing voluntary deeds after having performed obligatory ones, for that leads one to the highest levels of love.
  • Remembering Allah during every situation – with one's time, heart and deeds ... one's share of that love is to the degree of one's share in that remembrance.
  • Preferring what He loves to what you love when your desires are strong.
  • Allowing your heart to reflect on His Names and Attributes.
  • Reflecting on His many favors and blessings, both the apparent ones arid hidden ones, for that leads to His love.
  • Having your heart softened as it is worshipping Allah.
  • Being alone with Him in worship when He descends during the last third of the night. And this means to invoke Him, to recite His Speech, to stand with all sincerity and with good manners and with good submission, and then to end that with repentance and with seeking His forgiveness.
  • Sitting with those who are truthful in their love of Allah.
  • Staying away from all that creates barriers between the heart and Allah.

If you want child ask forgiveness from Allah, Wealth ask Forgiveness and Rain and All  Material Gain just ask Forgiveness and Allah will bestow you everything. 

Three men came to Husain bin 'Ali RadiAllah Unho. The first complained about a paucity of rain, and Husain answered, "Increase in seeking forgiveness from Allah." The second complained of being barren and not having children. Husain said, "Increase in seeking forgiveness from Allah." The third man complained about arid conditions and a lack of fertile soil, and Husain RadiAllah Unhosaid, "Increase in seeking forgiveness from Allah." Those seated with him said, "0 son of the Messenger of Allah (i.e., grandson): each one of these three had a different complaint, yet you gave them the same answer." He asked him whether he had not read the saying of Allah the  Exalted):

Ask forgiveness from your Lord; verily, He is Oft Forgiving; He will send rain to you in abundance; and give you increase in wealth and children, and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers." (Qur'dn 71:10-12)

فَقُلْتُ اسْتَغْفِرُوا رَبَّكُمْ إِنَّهُ كَانَ غَفَّارًا ﴿71:10﴾
(71:10) I said to them: “Ask forgiveness from your Lord; surely He is Most Forgiving.

يُرْسِلِ السَّمَاءَ عَلَيْكُمْ مِدْرَارًا ﴿71:11﴾
(71:11) He will shower upon you torrents from heaven,

وَيُمْدِدْكُمْ بِأَمْوَالٍ وَبَنِينَ وَيَجْعَلْ لَكُمْ جَنَّاتٍ وَيَجْعَلْ لَكُمْ أَنْهَارًا ﴿71:12﴾
(71:12) and will provide you with wealth and children, and will bestow upon you gardens and rivers.

This theme has been expressed at several places in the Qur'an that the rebellious attitude against God causes man to lead a wretched life not only in the Hereafter but also in this world, Contrary to this, if a nation adopts the way of faith and piety and obedience to Divine Commands, instead of disobedience, it benefits it not only in the Hereafter but also in the world; it is favored with every kind of blessing. In Surah Ta Ha it has been said: "And whoever turns away from My Admonition, will have a wretched life in the world, and We shall raise him up blind on the Day of Resurrection." (v. 124). In Surah AI-Ma'idah it has been said: "Had the people of the Book observed the Torah and the Gospel and the other Books which had been sent down by their Lord, abundance of provisions would have been given to them from above and from beneath." (v. 66). In Al-A`raf: "Had the people of the settlements believed and adopted the way of piety, We would have opened on them doors of blessings from the heavens and the earth." (v. 96). In Surah Hud, the Prophet Hud addressed his people, saying: "And O my people, beg forgiveness of your Lord, then turn to Him in penitence, and He will open the gates of heavens for you and add more strength to your present strength." (v. 52). Through the Holy Prophet himself in this very Surah Hud, the people of Makkah have been admonished to the effect: "And you should beg forgiveness of your Lord, then return to Him, and He will provide you with good provisions of life till an appointed term." (v. 3).



Acting on this same instruction from the Qur'an, once during a famine Hadrat `Umar came out to invoke Allah for the rain and begged only forgiveness of Him. The people said: "O Commander of the Faithful, you have not prayed for the rain." He replied: "I have knocked at the doors of heaven wherefrom the rain is sent down", and then he recited these verses of Surah Nuh to them. (Ibn Jarir, Ibn Kathir).

Admit your faults and do not be arrogant ...
Many problems that cause enmity to continue for a year or two years, or perhaps for life, can easily be solved by one person saying to another; "I made a mistake. I am sorry."
There occurred an argument between Abu Dharr and Bilal  may Allah be pleased with them both - and even though they were both Companions of the Prophet iii, they were still human. During the argument, Abu Dharr became angry and said to Bilal, "0 son of a black woman!" Thereupon, Bilal complained to the Messenger of Allah  Peace Be Upon Him.The Prophet called Abu Dharr and said, "Did you insult Bilal?"
He replied, "Yes:' The Prophet said, "Did you mention his mother?"
He replied, "When someone is insulted, usually his father and mother are also mentioned, 0 Messenger of Allah!"
The Prophet replied, "You are a man with traits of pre- Islamic ignorance:'
He asked, "Even when I am this old?"
The Prophet replied, "Yes:'
 
 

The Prophet Peace Be Upon Him then taught him the manner in which he should deal with those who may be seen as below his social status, saying, "They are only your brothers. Allah has placed them in your care. And whoever Allah places in one's care then let him feed him with what he eats himself, clothe him with what he clothes himself. Let him not overburden him with that which he cannot bear. And if person does overburden him, then let him lend him a hand."
What did Abu Dharr do then?
Abu Dharr went to see Bilal and apologized. He sat on the ground in front of Bilal and he became closer to the ground until he rested his cheek on the dust, and said, "0 Bilal! Put your foot on my cheek!" (Muslim)
This is how eager the Companions were to set out the flames of enmity before they became strong, and even if they became strong, they would do their best to prevent them from spreading.
 
 

 
A disagreement took place between Abu Bakr and 'Umar; where Abu Bakr made 'Umar angry. 'Umar went away from Abu Bakr in a state of anger. When Abu Bakr saw this, he regretted it and feared that the situation may exacerbate. Thus he went after 'Umar saying, "Forgive me, O 'Umar!" But 'Umar refused to turn to him. Abu Bakr kept apologizing and following 'Umar until he reached his home .and shut the door in Abu Bakr's face. Upon this, Abu Bakr went to the Messenger of Allah When the Prophet saw him coming from afar; he noticed something different about him and said, 'This Companion of ours seems to be in trouble."
Abu Bakr sat down quietly, and it wasn't long until' Umar also regretted his mistake. May Allah be pleased with them all! How pure were their hearts! 'Umar headed to the Prophet's gathering, greeted everyone and sat down next to the Prophet and told him the story, along with how he turned away from Abu Bakr and did not accept his apology.
The Messenger of Allah became angry. When Abu Bakr saw his anger; he began to say, "By Allah, 0 Messenger of Allah! This is only because I was the wrongdoer. I was the wrongdoer!"
He began to defend and make excuses for 'Umar.
The Prophet Peace Be Upon Him said, "Will you leave my Companion alone? Will you leave my Companion alone? When I said; “O people! I am the Messenger of Allah to you all', all of you said, 'You have lied!'
Yet Abu Bakr said, 'You have spoken the truth!'" (al-Bukhari)
Be careful not to be from those who rectify others while corrupting their own souls. Such people go around in circles with their faults like a donkey going around a mill. Hence, if you ever are in a position to advise others or be an example to those, such as a teacher with his students, a father or a mother with his or her children, then think as if you are under the watch of your customers. Everyone is monitoring you.
Always discipline yourself as much as possible. The same applies to a couple dealing with each other.
Lastly, if you would like others to accept your comments or advice, no matter who they may be, your wife, son or your sister; then be receptive to advice yourself without being arrogant.
If you will, let us travel back in time to Madinah and look at the Messenger of Allah while he was making I'tikaaf in his mosque in one of the nights of Ramadan. There came his wife, Safiyyah bint Huyay, to visit him and stayed with him for a while.
 She then rose to go back to her house. The Prophet did not like for her to go back home in the darkness of the night, so he decided to go with her. He walked some of the way with her until two men from the Ansaar passed by him.  When they saw the Prophet with a woman they began to walk fast upon seeing this, the Prophet said to them, "Take your time! She is only Safiyyah bint Huyay." They said, "SubhanAllah!" meaning, does it make sense that we should assume that you are walking with a strange woman?
The Prophet said, "Indeed, the devil flows through the human being like blood in the veins. I feared that he may place evil in your hearts, or may whisper something to you ... " (al-Bukhari and Muslim)
